How does pawning work?

Pawning is a simple, confidential way to get quick cash using your valuables as collateral. Here’s how it works:

• Bring your item to our shop at Blk 520, Lorong 6 Toa Payoh, #01-59

• Our accredited appraisers will assess its value on the spot — free of charge

• We offer you a loan amount based on the appraised value

• If you accept, we hold your item safely and you receive cash immediately

• You have 6 months to redeem your item by repaying the loan plus interest

• If you choose not to redeem, your item is sold — with no further obligation on your part

 

What items do you accept for pawning?

We accept a wide range of valuables, including:

• Gold jewellery (999, 916, 850, 750 gold)

• Diamond jewellery (rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets)

• Luxury watches (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and other brands)

• Precious gemstones

• Rare antiques and collectibles

What is the interest rate?

Our interest rates are set in accordance with the Pawnbrokers Act, regulated by the Ministry of Law Singapore. The maximum interest rate is 1.5% per month.

We offer competitive rates — visit us or call us at 6251 2213 for a personalised quote based on your item and loan amount.

 

How long is the pawn period?

The standard pawn period is 6 months. You may redeem your item at any time within this period by repaying the principal loan amount plus accrued interest.

You can also renew (extend) your pawn ticket before it expires — in person at our shop, or conveniently online at online.hengseng.com.sg.

 

What documents do I need to pawn an item?

You will need to present a valid Singapore NRIC or passport. No other documents are required for most items.

For certain high-value watches or jewellery, original purchase receipts or certificates (e.g. GIA certificates for diamonds) may help us offer a better valuation, though they are not mandatory.

 

Is my item safe while it is with you?

Yes. All items pledged with Heng Seng Pawnshop are stored securely on our premises. As a licensed pawnbroker regulated by the Ministry of Law, we are legally obligated to safeguard all pledged items.

Your item is fully insured while in our care.

 

REDEEMING & RENEWING YOUR PLEDGE

 

How do I redeem my item?

To redeem your pledged item, simply:

• Bring your pawn ticket (receipt) to our shop

• Pay the outstanding loan amount plus interest

• Your item will be returned to you immediately

 

Please keep your pawn ticket safe — it is required for redemption. If you lose it, contact us immediately at 6251 2213.

 

Can I renew my pawn ticket online?

Yes! Heng Seng Pawnshop offers convenient online renewal at online.hengseng.com.sg. You can renew your pledge from anywhere without having to visit the shop.

Simply log in with your NRIC and pawn ticket number, pay the interest due, and your pledge period is extended for another 6 months.

 

What happens if I don’t redeem or renew before the pawn period expires?

If your pawn ticket expires and you have not redeemed or renewed, your item will be forfeited and listed for sale. You will have no further financial obligation — the original loan is considered settled.

We strongly encourage you to renew online if you are unable to visit the shop before expiry.

Do you sell pre-owned jewellery and watches?

Yes. Heng Seng Pawnshop operates a curated online store featuring pre-owned gold jewellery, diamond pieces, and luxury timepieces including Rolex watches.

How are your gold jewellery prices determined?

Gold jewellery prices are tied to the daily international spot price of gold. As gold prices fluctuate daily, we update our pricing accordingly to ensure you always receive a fair, market-based price.

Are your watches and jewellery authenticated?

Yes. Every item sold by Heng Seng Pawnshop has been assessed by our team of professionally accredited appraisers with decades of experience across gold, diamonds, and luxury timepieces.

For Rolex and other luxury watches, we verify model details, movement, and condition before listing. Original accessories (box, papers) are noted where available.

Is Heng Seng Pawnshop licensed?

Yes. Heng Seng Pawnshop is a fully licensed pawnbroker under the Pawnbrokers Act, regulated by the Ministry of Law, Singapore. We have been in continuous operation since 1971 and are a member of the Pawnbrokers Association of Singapore.
